Chapter 14 was an interesting chapter. It talked basically about whether it is good to open people's eyes up to reality. It expressed issues dealing with the media and the thing they produce of reality. There is an image on page 531 of the Envision in Depth text book and the image contain a woman cutting yard. She is pushing a push lawn moor with two infants; both in a carrier, one on her back and the other one in the front of her. That is reality! That is what some people have to do to make ends meet. Men in today's world will leave a woman/family to do things in life to keep them happy instead of handling responsibility. On page 560 of the same book contains a picture of 2 young boys holding a sign to advertise the fact that they want money to help the 2004 tsunami victims. This image can help the people that is raising money if it went through the media. Taking this picture can be a good source for them to reach their goal. The pictures on page 565 can effect some people. The people may only be the family. Science has advance so much that some of the family members may feel that he was still alive and by the firefighter "cradling" the infant, it could of possibly cause his death. This image alone could of started a big case! There are two different ways to look at media representing reality. It is very hard to choose what side to be on between the media representing reality and not representing reality.
If I had to choose, I would be for it! I don't believe in people not informing others of what is really going on. I would not want everything to be "Sugar Coded" to me about what is really going on. If things are happening, they are happen! By not showing it on the media, it will not cause things to stop happening; it may in fact, make them worst. Showing reality through the media may slow down the process of things happening. Good chapter! I didn't gain much from it, but through class procedures, things are better understood.
