I am back at Clemson University and I keep asking myself; Is this where I want to be? My flesh answers one thing but my spirit speaks another. Living in the world is difficult. I would not wish my life-style on no one. It's not messed up, but I am living not realizing or unsure of my true purpose in life. I am an all-around type of guy. There is not one thing that I can do better than any average person. I have a little of this and a little of that. If I could ask one question at this current time, it would be; Why was I created in this form? Or most importantly; Who am I? I am going to give Clemson all I have. This academic year is my year and I shall overcome the trails. I hope to be nothing but the best in academics. Nothing is possible for me without God and his son Jesus. They are my strength! So, I plead for Another Chance to be great. Another Start! I pray never to give up.
Even when teachers care more about their pay checks than the job of educating. Don't give up! Even when family members keep dying. Don't give up! When I don't know where money will come from to pay my rent and split house bills. Don't give up! I try not to give up because trouble don't last always. Each step is another start. Now, Where do you want to start...?

Chapter 15 "Globalization"
Chapter 15 was very interesting and kind of hard to understand. I think that it can be be big debate about coming up with the definition of "globalization." One of the main things that were talked about in this chapter was McDonalds. The textbook talked about McDonalds dominance globally. A man name George River wrote an article about McDonalds and he seems to be against McDonalds plan in dominating. He feels that it is a plan for them to be the best. McDonalds went to China and opened a restaurant. The McDonalds there sell food that can adapt to the people in China meaning that food that are eating in China are sold at McDonalds. Mr. River doesn't like that fact that people are not able to start their own food business because McDonalds have all of the customers in every area. He feel that McDonalds should stick to the food they originally started with and not implement other types and styles of food into their menu to gain customers. He talked about how other business has started their restaurant and McDonalds came alone and put their restaurant out of business. He is mad that the system allows that type of dominance to happen.
Do I agree with him? I am not sure. By reading and viewing a video in class, it almost makes me feel like McDonalds is greedy for money. On the other hand, they are doing what it take to be known as the best fast food restaurant in the world. I agree with him, but I really would have looked at the situation in manners as such. I believe that anyone can have the power to start a restaurant with more heather food, bigger quantity, and cheaper prices. Yes, the company may struggle for a little while, but it should be known that things are down before they come up!
There was an interview in the reading also. This interview was conducted about the real meaning of globalization. In the textbook, the images have a lot of messages in them. In the image where a lot of labels (like; Coco-Cola, CNN, McDonalds, Mobile, etc) are in a line around the world, it expressed to me that these businesses are the things that make the world go around. It cam mean that without these businesses, the world would not turn. Or it can be looked at as, no matter where a person goes in this world, one of these label will be seen. It is allowing the viewers to know that these labels are globalized.
After reading and gaining a better understanding of the readings in class, I can feed off of the intake and express different opinions of my own about globalization. If I had the define "Globalization" it would be, "the dominance in your field of work through communication and adaptation." I am not well rounded but from my reading and hearing, this is my understanding.

Chapter 14: Representing Reality
October 22, 2009
Chapter 14 was an interesting chapter. It talked basically about whether it is good to open people's eyes up to reality. It expressed issues dealing with the media and the thing they produce of reality. There is an image on page 531 of the Envision in Depth text book and the image contain a woman cutting yard. She is pushing a push lawn moor with two infants; both in a carrier, one on her back and the other one in the front of her. That is reality! That is what some people have to do to make ends meet. Men in today's world will leave a woman/family to do things in life to keep them happy instead of handling responsibility. On page 560 of the same book contains a picture of 2 young boys holding a sign to advertise the fact that they want money to help the 2004 tsunami victims. This image can help the people that is raising money if it went through the media. Taking this picture can be a good source for them to reach their goal. The pictures on page 565 can effect some people. The people may only be the family. Science has advance so much that some of the family members may feel that he was still alive and by the firefighter "cradling" the infant, it could of possibly cause his death. This image alone could of started a big case! There are two different ways to look at media representing reality. It is very hard to choose what side to be on between the media representing reality and not representing reality.
If I had to choose, I would be for it! I don't believe in people not informing others of what is really going on. I would not want everything to be "Sugar Coded" to me about what is really going on. If things are happening, they are happen! By not showing it on the media, it will not cause things to stop happening; it may in fact, make them worst. Showing reality through the media may slow down the process of things happening. Good chapter! I didn't gain much from it, but through class procedures, things are better understood.

Note Taking Readings
The readings about note taking were very useful. I am almost afraid to write a research paper because of the guidelines. I have already done research on the Cold War and read a lot of information. From reading those information, I have develop thoughts. From those thoughts, I am not sure if they are my thoughts or thoughts I have read from the research conducted. In the article, the lady was doing research on an topic in history. She did some things that she did not mean to do in her research. She found out that she wrote things in her research that she didn't write or come up with. She suggested note taking skills like creating a reference log. She informed me to write down everything about the information gained. Where it came from? When did you access it? And other things of that nature. A person must write down everything when they are conducting a research to avoid plagiarism. It seems impossible to redeem my grade if I forget to put down everything inside of my work cited. These guidelines are making me feel bad about writing my research. I hope that my research of my research paper is good and I will do my best!

DK HandBook Reading (Sources)
In the DK Handbook, I read about different sources that can be used when doing a research paper. The reading started off by mentioning the different types of research such as: Online, Journals, Books, Magazines, etc. It told me some interesting things about the reliable sources. It is better to search for online sources using the scholor search. This search will only allow you to find things that has been approved by people with doctor degress or someone that is educated in the subject feild in which the research will be conducted. For my research (I am not sure if it is narrowed down enough but...) I will have to find some pass/new articles about women being treated unfairly. I came upon one on Friday but I will have to locate it again. The DK Handbook also shared information about arguments that we(the researchers) make. It also gave some research topic questions to make sure that the topic chosen is a good research topic.

9/08/2009 Reflections
We have to review other peers or classmates rhetorical essay in class on the day. Before class, we were just suppose to go inside the DK handbook and pick out something to make our essay better. I learned some important things in the handbook and I used some of them into my essay. Also while searching or scheming through the DK handbook, I also found a lot of sentence structures to impress the readings of my essay. The peer review was great and I can grantee that my essay is going to be better than it was before. While working with my peer or classmate, she enlighten me to add more detail about my picture into my essay. She told me that my argument was okay but may want to a few more things to support my argument. Class was great and my rhetorical analysis is still in progress.

Chapter 10
For 9/1:
The reading: Fats Is An Advertising Issue was good. It almost seems bias but however it states some beauty of women. I talked about what women should do to keep themselves good looking. The author pointed out that some women wake up in the morning feeling their "Tummies" to see if they are good or bad. Good meaning that they are checking to see if they are still fit or at the right stomach weight. The issue went on to talk about Dove. I want to believe that this whole issue was concerning dove or the "Perfect Fit" women that help the advertisement of Dove. If I had to choose a thesis, the statement I would have used from the text would be; "The Body Image Summit included influential magazine editors, fashion designers and buyers who could have changed our narrow visual culture." May I also add that it can also be "Dove's mission was to reformulate this warped and damaging engagement with beauty and offer in its place something based not on impossibility, but on possibility?" It is kind of hard to pick out what the Thesis could be but I am on track that this issue talks about the beauty of women.
